Episode 99: What’s Your WHY?

All of us must, at some point, ask an important question: What’s our WHY? Why do we do what we do or believe what we believe? What motivates us and drives our WHY? In the Gospel of Mark there’s an interesting story focused on a group of men’s whyMark 2:3-5 shows a group willing to do whatever it takes to get their paralyzed friend to Jesus.

Why #1: When we get people in front of Jesus, lives change.

These men climbed to the top of a roof and lifted the tiles off so they could lower their friend in front of Jesus. Once they got him there, the man’s life changed as Jesus forgave his sins and later healed his body. What are we willing to do to get people in front of Jesus so He can change them?

Why #2: Getting people to Jesus won’t always be easy.

These men saw the situation (crowded room and no way to enter) and came up with a creative and fresh solution instead of giving up. They had to dig into a roof and take off tiles, which would have been a tiresome task they committed to. Many people were watching, and it soon became everyone’s goal to get this man in front of Jesus. When we exhibit faith, others join in too.

Why #3: Jesus sees your faith!

Verse 5 says that Jesus “saw” their faith. It was these men’s faith that moved Jesus to heal the man they lowered in front of Him. YOUR faith has the power to place someone in front of Jesus. When you do, Jesus sees your faith, and responds with a move of grace.
