You Need THIS In 2025
Words matter. Whether they are spoken, heard, or believed…they stay with us and mold us.
Many years ago, we started a tradition of selecting one word to be our WORD for the year. It needs to be something the Lord is leading you to - either due to circumstances in your life or a repeated pattern of learning in the Bible. Once selected, that word becomes the backdrop of all you do.
In this episode, Gari shares that her word is new wine (actually two words, but we’re going with it!) and Carla’s word is faith.
New wine is a concept found in Luke 5:37-39 where Jesus says, “No one puts new wine into old wineskins; otherwise, the new wine will burst the skins, and it will be spilled, and the skins will be ruined. But new wine must be put into fresh wineskins. And no one, after drinking old wine, wishes for the new, for he says, ‘The old is good enough.’”
To understand the meaning of new wine, we must know that doing things the same way, or being tied to an old way of thinking, will keep us stuck in the past. God has “new wine” seasons for us, but if we continue to think the old ways are good enough, things won’t change!
Faith (Carla’s word) is the cornerstone of all we do as believers, but sometimes the reality of believing for things we can’t see or understand is harder than we admit. When life’s challenges lead us to a place of surrender, real faith kicks in.
At Gutsy Faith, we’re inviting all our listeners to select a word for the year. Here are some tips for selecting your word:
1. PRAY: Ask the Holy Spirit to bring to your mind a word that resonates or instructs. Don’t overthink it. It may be a common word like trust, release, hope. Whatever surfaces, ask God what word He has for your year.
2. WRITE: Write your word somewhere that is easy to remember and easy to access so you can continually refer back to it. Go back to it often and record things that align with the word’s purpose in your life.
3. SHARE: Share your word with someone else. By sharing your word, you allow other people to be a part of reminding and rejoicing!
