We live in a nation obsessed with comfort. But consider this, what if God asked us to be faithful, even in an uncomfortable situation? What if we’re called to compassion— even when we feel trapped by circumstances that aren’t what we’d choose?

It’s often in our discomfort that our compassion for others comes from a pure place of grace, rather than from a manufactured place of self-satisfaction.

In the Bible (2 Kings 5), there’s a story about a little servant girl, probably a pre-teen, who was kidnapped by Syrian soldiers who raided the land. She was brought back and forced to serve the wife of an army commander named Naaman. In an act of faith and selfless kindness, she shares that he can be healed of leprosy if he sees the prophet who heals by the power of the living God.

Naaman makes the trip to see the prophet Elisha, and learns more than he set out to. Not only was his health restored, but he also found a new faith in God—all because a little servant girl believed.

When faced with uncomfortable circumstances, see if YOU pass the comfort test:

1. BE CONFIDENT: The little girl had gutsy faith as she believed God is real and He can heal!

2. BE READY: Recognize that this uncomfortable season isn’t just about you. Maybe you’re in captivity so God can use you to set someone else free.

3. BE BOLD: Speak to the needs and pain of other people. Instead of being discouraged and pitied, this little girl shared her faith in a God that had the power to change their situation.

Gutsy Faith Challenge: Ask yourself, “What is MY faith changing today?”

You could be the catalyst for someone else’s miracle.
